The National Weather Service is forecasting extremely hot weather from Saturday, September 2nd through Monday, September 4th. Outside temperatures are expected to reach 110 degrees or more during this time period. The Citrus Heights Police Department and the City of Citrus Heights recognize the inherent dangers that accompany such high temperatures and will be providing a cooling center for public use.

The cooling center will be located in the Senior Center within the Citrus Heights Community Center located at 6300 Fountain Square Drive in Citrus Heights. The cooling center will be open Saturday,
Sunday, and Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Members of the public who need a respite from the heat are encouraged to visit the cooling center where water, television, and free internet will also be available.

The City of Citrus Heights would like to remind everyone to stay hydrated and to plan outdoor activities early in the day to avoid long-term exposure to temperatures in excess of 100 degrees.
