The Lompoc Police Department is currently investigating an early morning shooting which occurred at 802 East Ocean Avenue, Conserve Fuel.
The victim in this shooting was standing outside of his vehicle filling it with gasoline when a white in color van pulled into the driveway of the business. This van began to approach the victim. As it approached shots were fired from inside of the vehicle striking the victim.
The suspect's vehicle fled the area after the shooting.
LPD officers located the suspect's vehicle parked at a residence in the 800 block of East Cypress Avenue. A possible suspect in the shooting was identified and a search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and residence where it was found.
Due to the closeness of this residence to Hapgood School, the school was placed in lockdown while the Lompoc Police Department SWAT Team served the search warrant. This warrant was served without incident and after a search was completed, the lockdown of Hapgood School was lifted.
The victim in the shooting was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for his gunshot wound and is in a stable condition.
