| Summary : | The Lompoc Police Department is pleased to announce the addition of two new officers to our team: Officer's Yobanie Daniel Martinez and Luis Alonso Ruiz. These Officers completed their rigorous training at the Allan Hancock College Police Academy, with the graduation ceremony held on June 5th, 2024, at Hancock College's Public Safety Training Complex in Lompoc.
Subsequently, a formal swearing-in ceremony took place at Lompoc City Hall, where Chief Kevin Martin and the city clerk administered the oath of office to the newly appointed officers in the presence of their families and friends.
Commencing their training in early January of 2024, the officers underwent approximately 830 hours of intensive instruction. They successfully navigated through 14 challenging practical scenarios, passed 26 written examinations, and demonstrated proficiency in crucial law enforcement skills, including arrest and control tactics, physical conditioning, report writing, and emergency vehicle operations. Additionally, their training regimen included extensive physical exercise, ranging from sit-ups and pull-ups to push-ups and endurance running.
