On Friday 3-29-2019 at 2:40 PM Lompoc Police Officers were dispatched to a reported Roll Over traffic collision in the 1000 block of North V Street. Witnesses on scene reported seeing two subjects fleeing from the vehicle, this witness also reported the subjects were fleeing in opposite directions.
When officers arrived they found a vehicle had rolled on its side, no one was found inside. Officers located a witness that captured a picture on their cell phone of the suspects. Officers began to check the area but could not locate anyone matching the photo.
This appears to be a single vehicle accident. Evidence indicates the vehicle was traveling South on V street where it lost control striking the West curb. The vehicle's momentum carried it up on the raised curb where it struck a city power pole causing it to roll on its side. The power pole snapped in half and was hanging when officers arrived.
The Lompoc Electric department responded to make the area safe and replace the power pole.
