Crime/Offense :
Violation of Controlled Substance Act
Summary :
This morning at 6:00 a.m., the Auburn Police Department served eight simultaneous search warrants in the City of Auburn and in Seattle. Narcotics detectives obtained warrants for eight residences, four in Auburn and another four in Seattle. These houses were part of a large marijuana grow operation run by Chinese nationals. Auburn Police detectives were assisted by Valley SWAT and agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. The DEA task forces assisted in serving the Seattle warrants. The investigation began several months ago and detectives were able to link all the residences as part of the clandestine group. Although we are still processing the scenes, so far we have seized 4,439 marijuana plants, automobiles, several thousands of dollars in cash, and have made 12 arrests.

The residences were elaborately converted to accommodate as many plants as possible. Attics and basements were modified with subfloors, aluminum sheeting for bright lighting, fans to strengthen the stocks, ballasts, and lights.

Detectives are continuing the investigation.
