Update - Rocklin Police Investigate Homicide

On Tuesday, July 19th, at 10:47 AM, The Rocklin Police Department’s 9-1-1 center received several calls regarding a disturbance occurring at 6703 Monument Springs Drive. Officers responded and determined that a
female juvenile victim (13 years) was deceased at the scene and that a male juvenile suspect (14 years), who had fled the area on foot, may have been responsible. 

While detectives locked down the scene, patrol officers formed a perimeter with the help of the Roseville Police Department and the California Highway Patrol to locate to fleeing juvenile. He was found in a field area about one mile from the location of the original calls.  He was taken into custody without incident. Subsequently, he was transported to Placer County Probation Juvenile Detention Facility in Auburn.   His name will not be released because he is a minor. 

The Rocklin Police Department is the lead investigative agency for this investigation with the assistance of the Department of Justice who also responded to the residence. After a search warrant was obtained, multiple crime scenes (locations) within the house were processed in search for items of evidentiary value. 

All police personnel had finished and left the location at about 11:37 PM.  

The injuries of the victim were consistent with a blunt force trauma-type injury although information about the weapon used will not be released.

The victim has been identified as Ashley Wood.
