Officers Grew Mustaches, Beards and Goatees To Support the Fight Against Men's Health Issues

This November, several of our officers took part in "No-Shave-November" to bring awareness to men's health issues.

During the month, officers grew mustaches, beards or goatees to stimulate discussion on these topics with the community and to support one of our officers with his own health issues. Female members took part as well by wearing flowers or ribbons in their hair.

We participated in No-Shave-November this year to support Corporal Shan Jenkins, one of our officers who has been battling cancer. As a result of our employee's efforts, we raised over $1,300.00 for Shan and his wife Lauren to do something special for themselves.

We ended the month with an awards ceremony at the police station on November 30th. Shan and Lauren were on hand to pick the Best and Worst Beard, Goatee and hair flower (for the ladies).  Officer Jesus Bravo won BEST BEARD, Officer Byron Araica won BEST GOATEE, Dispatch Monica Robles won BEST FLOWER and Officer Diego Cornejo was crowned as having the WORST BEARD!

After the ceremony, barbers from The Barbershop by El Barber, a local barber shop, were on hand to provide straight razor shaves.  They did an outstanding job cleaning the scruff off everyone's faces!

It was an honor for us to support Shan and his family in this worthwhile cause and we thank and congratulate everyone who participated in this event!
